Pilot Wins First Place in Open Category for 3rd 3 Damansara Chess Tournament 2023

The recently two days chess tournament in 3 Damansara Mall showcased some exceptional talents from various player from U12, U18, U10 and Open Category. The event, held in an atmosphere of fierce competition and sportsmanship, provided an exciting spectacle for chess enthusiasts and casual spectators alike. Players from diverse backgrounds gathered to pit their skills against one another, resulting in a riveting display of strategic brilliance and tactical prowess. In this article, we will take a closer look at the top players who secured their positions at the top of the leaderboard in the second day of the tournament which is on 16 July 2023.

Ahmad Abid Abdul Hamid from Malaysia who is also a pilot and former cyclist proved to be a dominant force throughout the tournament. With an impressive rating of 1525, he showcased remarkable consistency and resilience, securing the top spot with an outstanding score of 6.5 points. Demonstrating exceptional strategic understanding and precision in his moves, Ahmad Abid displayed that he still managed to be the ace in the chess world despite his busy life as a pilot.

Yap Ray Jin, an exceptionally gifted chess player, showed immense promise from an early age. Despite being in the Under-10 category, his strategic prowess and tactical acumen have already set him apart from his peers. In a highly competitive field, his name shone brightly on the scoreboard, making him a standout player from SJKC Kuen Cheng 1 .
